It shouldn't have happened in the first place...but I give the utmost credit to Shane Black for being one of the very few men who have screwed up very badly, very publicly, for seeming to fully understand how and why he screwed up, and that he will truly learn and grow from it.
I get that men are frustrated with cancel culture (as am I) and men who badly screw up being written off forever. The problem is that so few apologies seem sincere or like they're coming from a place of those men actually understanding how they are responsible for their actions.
They give the PR-friendly statement, say the words, but you can tell they don't mean or understand them. They simply parrot what they're told to. And later their actions show they've not learned. It's exhausting. To is credit, Black, at least, genuinely seems like he means it.
It never should have been an issue at all. But at this point in the exhausting game, hell, I'll gladly take a man *actually understanding why he's in the wrong* for once as a sign of progress. And hope he'll continue to evolve.
