Perfect example of his cluelessness is that John was anchor of a show dedicated specifically to diversity in public radio. And yet he’s a white guy. HELLO! He denies that he was racist or bullying but that is exactly
what he is accused of being. By women of color! And so just like that. He gets to say it’s not true? This is the example of white male privilege. You get to write an article in Harpers! You get to call it “bad judgement”. Seriously. This is exactly what we are talking about.
You don’t get it. And you have entire structure that backs you up. Oh. John is upset that he can’t get a serious meeting with anyone! Try being a woman of color who is a journalist! And this is the time when he decides to get public about his problems with intimacy and oral sex?
Because he’s disabled? Seriously? Having known him for decades he thinks he’s a romantic. But he can’t see beyond his own ego. ROMANCE? I will not begin to list all of the ways in which this is a sick construction in his mind. I cannot begin to review all of the very
personal details of why I know this. Let me just say it got so bad that I had to tell John Hockenberry to never ever speak to me about anything personal regarding mutual friends and that he was only allowed to speak to me about professional issues. I’m sure we won’t speak about
either one of those things. But this thought that he is a suffering, quadriplegic,helpless romantic who has been under misunderstood is epitome of a man being given huge platform to ramble on even more about some kind of illusions that he has in his head that he is poor suffering
