<thread> on Dr Ford longtime friend's (Leland Keyser) statement to Senate:

1 discredits Grassley saying this "directly contradict(s)" Ford
2 undermines Kavanaugh defense of mistaken identity
3 unsurprising she doesn't recall party
4 adds to Ford’s credibility to have named her…
I’ll begin by saying opponents of Kavanaugh should not try to rationalize away Keyser’s statements.

I may not agree with the exact way he phrased/framed it, but @saletan is making these points:
Many legal commentators are—very correctly—pointing out it's flat wrong to say Keyser “denies,” directly “contradicts” or “refutes” Ford’s account

But it’s not just rightwing media, propagandist who have done this.

Recall Sen. Grassley’s letter and Sen. Lee's staffer’s retweet:
Keyser does NOT “deny,” “contradict” or “refute” Ford’s account.

Keyser is just saying she does not remember a party when she was 15 years old.

Plus: Keyser also added that "she believes Ford’s allegation.”

WaPo:
Another reason it’s unsurprising Kesyer does not remember the party:

When Ford was initially interviewed by the Washington Post, “Ford told The Post she did not think Keyser would remember the party because nothing remarkable had happened there, as far as Keyser was aware."
Keyser statements could undercut Kavanaugh-Hatch-Whelan's suggesting this could be a case of mistaken identity.

Keyser doesn't say she recalls a party that matches description but with someone else present and, on contrary, she believes Ford's account.
Finally, it adds to Dr. Ford’s credibility that she names Keyser and Kavanaugh’s other friend as witnesses even though she knows full well that they may not recall the party or that someone like Mark Judge (an alleged accomplice and witness) would support Kavanaugh.
