They were going to school
Two Christian brothers
As soon as the bus moved
One of them started preaching
The other interpreted in Yoruba
"Jesus is the way, the truth and the life
Whosoever believe in Him shall be saved"
They preached
They prayed
They were used to Christians preaching in the bus in the name of evangelism, it was the norm in many buses plying interstate and intrastate routes"
Say what you have to say and let us rest!
Which Jesus?
The son of Mariam, the prophet they know as Isa"
He coughed and coughed
He had been a patient at UCH
The doctor told them his tuberculosis has no cure
He would die
The family decided to engage the herbal and traditional option
He must not die
He was the only child of his mother, what would her lot be
Just like that
His uncle that was with him screamed
"So and so"
"So and so"
He didn't answer
He had answered the hoards of death, the reapers had taken him
He was dead!
Whoa!
The bus driver panicked
Someone had died in his bus!
He parked
What do we do now?
Get us another bus screamed the passengers
His uncle sat down beside the road
Money had failed
Effort had failed
He didn't even make it to the local doctor they wanted to take him to
What would his mother say?
How would he break the news to her?
Pandemonium!
17 paseengers!
How would he get them to their destination?
He would lose so much money but he didn't mind
They should get the dead guy off his bus
The born again brothers also alighted
What sort of inconvenience is this?
They had to be in school on time
They had prayed in tongues all night
Hoping to wroth miracles on campus
And then this guy died
Delaying them from fulfilling their mandate
The devil is a liar
They need to get on another bus and fast
They had spent 45 minutes waiting
He was wearing a faded fabric, speaking local language
He called the late man's uncle
What was his name?
The Uncle told him
He laid hands on the dead man
He prayed
In the name of Jesus "So and so" come back to life
Everybody laughed
Nonsense!
"So and so" in the name of Jesus, I command the grave to lose hold of you, I command death to release you. I am a life giving spirit! Jesus is represented In me! In the name of Jesus, come back to life!
Passengers jeered-
He was tying to make a name for himself
"So and so" I command your spirit to come back to your body! In Jesus name, come alive!
The dead man suddenly gasped!
He coughed and sneezed
Phlemn scattered everywhere
Jesus!
The passengers peeped
Born again brothers peeped
The dead is alive
Looking here and there
Called his name
"So and so" is this you?
The resurrected smiled. His throat was clear, his head was clear. He recognized his Uncle, he answered to his own name
He was not only resurrected, he was healed!
Oh Lord Jesus!
The driver jumped in the bus
If the man would die again, he would prefer to get to his destination first
They all boarded the bus
Stupified!
The man who raised the dead said so little
"Brothers and sisters, I am a missionary on my way to my rural station, I had to raise him
He raised a song
(O se O Jesu, A O MA yin o) meaning Thank you Jesus, we will worship you!
Everybody sang!
Unbelievers and the born again brothers
They sang until they got to their destination
Hallelujah!
It happened on a bus travelling from Ibadan to Iwo (Osun State)
They returned to campus understanding the power of Jesus was not in mere words but in power
They were never the same again
