We've now entered Fiscal Year 2019.
OMB has projected a deficit of $1.085 Trillion dollars.
Paul Ryan became Speaker of the House weeks after fiscal year 2015 ended with a deficit of $439 billion.
National debt stands at $21.4 trillion.
It was $19.9 trillion the day Trump took office.
OMB projects debt will hit $29T in fiscal 2025 under Trump's policies.
It was $10.6 trillion the day Obama took office.
It was $5.7 trillion the day Bush took office.
Math:
Fiscal 2017 House GOP budget projected a $207 billion deficit for fiscal 2019 under their policies.
White House OMB projects a $1.085T deficit.
What happened?
Revenue ~$366B BELOW House R's pre-election budget.
Spending ~$521B ABOVE House R's pre-election budget.
In short, after taking over, Republicans are taxing a LOT less and spending a LOT more than their pre-election budget required to meet their deficit goals.
Title of that budget:
"A Balanced Budget for a Stronger America."
It's striking to me that debt went up about $9T under Obama and under Trump's own OMB math would also go up about $9T.
With the caveats of nominal dollars vs. real dollars, etc.
Neither the House or Senate passed a budget resolution this year.
The National Debt is up $253 billion since Sept. 28 - less than two months ago.
The National Debt just hit $21.8 trillion for the first time.
It's increased ~$286 Billion since Sept. 28 - less than 2 months ago!
Adjust your talking points accordingly.
