Appearing on The View, Curtis said the heroine of Halloween is a woman who suffered “trauma at 17, like Ford when she was 17.” Trying to make the connection, the actress touted the topicality of the new Halloween: “It’s actually about something. The movie is about trauma.”
She clarified, “Because, what happened to Laurie Strode when she was 17 — it is fiction. I want everyone to understand that I’m not saying that this happened to me.”
To be clear, the Halloween series is about an unhinged murderer responsible for killing 111 people throughout the franchise. Is this really the best kind of comparison, even on an inferential level?
Curtis: Ford’s trauma “...changed and shaped her life and now she is taking back the power, which is what all of these brave women have done.”
