It is indeed true that grief demands answers to questions that may not even have an answer. Sadness pull the strings of anger and cause us to seek who to blame for our sorrows. But we must understand that there are accents to the language of grief. No two people grieve alike.
We can’t hurt others because we are hurting. Neither must we expect everyone especially those who don’t owe us a duty of care to align with our mood. Every individual is going through seasons & only when those climes intersect do we get each other. Tolerance is key.
The feeling of deep loss is real and we react to this differently. Grief as they say exists where love lived first. While some are downcast others find a means of distracting themselves from the heaviness of the heart. They care still but find a way to ameliorate the impact.
Why are Nigerians funny, witty and merry? Despite the oppression and lifelessness? It is not that they don’t hurt or feel pain. It is not that they are not sensitive to the issues that buffet them. Our hearts silently scream in pain even while we force a smile or make a joke.
Rather than try to force our emotions on others by lashing out, we can accept the reality and find means to forestall a recurrence, while adjusting to the new environment without those we have lost & reinvest in the new reality making sure they do not die in vain.
I grieve every night by the way from the beginning of the Advocacy a year ago. You don’t know what we face during interventions with inebriated policemen behaving like rabid animals. As I type these words I’m still pondering over the attitudes of our men in Black...
...stomaching the insults and blackmails of loonies who sleep sound at night. But we’re here preventing our youth from being killed by organized crime syndicate of the Police at their various stations, turned den of thieves and kidnappers under the guise of indiscriminate raids.
Just a few moments ago in oshodi at Makinde Police Station. Young people buying dinner on the street were kidnapped by @PoliceNG and thrown in detention for absolutely nothing. A price tag has been placed on their heads for their poor parents to contend with by morning.
If those kids had struggled they might have been shot for resisting arrest. No one is safe. Attempts to speak to the StationOfficer proved abortive as he was too drunk to even comprehend or reason. All he wants is his fix. Those kids are worth nothing but money to him & his goons
I insist that the commissioner of Police of Lagos has to go. @YomiShogunle @PoliceNG_PCRRU you folks know I don’t mince words. Most of the police stations in Lagos is a crime scene. Ogudu, Agungi, OSHODI, Mushin, as well as towns in other states have become lawless.
Meanwhile real crimes are left uncurbed. Rival gangs in Lagos Island have been killing each other and the innocent for days now and no single arrest has been made yet innocent citizens are being raided per hour for money. Is this law enforcement? Is this lawful? #ReformPoliceNG
It is not enough to pay lip service to Reforms and sit at meetings just to posture as those all is well. We can’t be the judge. It is the people’s testimony that will determine if there has been a reformation or not. We have rested from SARS now the police are running amok.
If Makinde Police Station is not raided by morning by the IGP X squad with all the criminals kidnapping innocent children for money tried then we are only aiding and abetting crime in the name of policing. Most of the real crimes are being perpetrated by the police now.
How can we wait until our youth are gunned down before we start commiserating and showing theatrical empathy when this could have been prevented by purging the system of unconscionable rogues who don’t value life. Ogudu Area H and Makinde Police Station must be sanitized.
The commissioner Police should do the needful or resign from the position. The Police HQ should rise up to its responsibility and make necessary changes. We have lost enough souls to the impunity and we will no longer sit back and count our dead. Act now. #ReformPoliceNG
So before you think you are the only one going through stuff or have issues to worry about, think about others who may be carrying a heavier weight than you can ever imagine...one that they don’t even need or have to carry. You really don’t have to react to everything you read.
This is an indictment on the Commissioner of @PoliceNG @PoliceNGLagos @PoliceNG_PCRRU this is how the entire police structure in Lagos have been re-purposed to ruin lives of innocent citizens. DPO & Area commanders no longer know anything else than indiscriminate RAIDS for Cash!
It is easy to tweet insult at Distinguished ACP @YomiShogunle without walking an hour in his shoes. He is besieged on every side and almost driven nuts by the activities of people around him, who end up hating him for doing his job, while we ruthlessnessly vilify him out here.
The newsflash though is that for every police office dismissed on the job, the ACP makes a hundred enemies. This is why it gets frustrating when he raises a query and the lead turned out false. Communication gaps can be devastating. He is human. From what I see, issues are deeper
I have maintained from research and now experience that we can’t fight Institutional rot from within the regimented system. It must be balanced from pressure from outside in the know. Keep your reports as truthful as ever and ensure you don’t aid and abet.
Looking at the reports and crime rate of policemen. Lagos is still king in the trend. The earlier this is addressed the better before all hell breaks loose. We won’t stand by and watch impunity become a culture. Indiscriminate raids for cash is Criminal & it ends now.
