Why should you join #peoplesvotemarch tomorrow? Why bother?

This is maybe the last chance left to make our voices heard. The Prime Minister hasn’t listened to many of us, hasn’t engaged with the majority of us & won’t bring us back the promises made by Leave in 2016. /1
Fed up to the back teeth as we might all be with the breaking news, volatility & vitriol, it’s not going to end in March 2019.

Closing our eyes and ears to the noise won’t make it go away.

We have potentially years of this ahead of us as trade deals are fought & wrangled. /2
Whether you voted Leave or Remain, it should be in all of our interests that massive constitutional, economic & social change has a real mandate, based on a better set of facts, a closer reality check. /3
Whether you voted Leave or Remain, we all now know our society will have rights that many of us have always known snatched away. We know our British compatriots in the EU, & EU compatriots here, have their lives disrupted. /4
Whether you voted Leave or Remain, we all know there is a massive demographic gap between the wishes of the majority of the older and younger generations. We should own such a decision if we consciously disrupt & damage peoples’ futures. /5
It’s not easy to have another referendum, nor is the outcome certain. But we are in the invidious position where MPs are frozen between a vote that took place in dubious circumstances, without material facts & without today’s reality. So, it is probably the least worst option. /6
The society that we have become in Brexit times is not a society we can be proud of. Death threats, an assassination, vilification of judges, the civil service, anybody with a different view. Rising hate crime, social intolerance. And we aren’t alone. /7
The liberal world around us is also a shrinking space. The international human rights order, a rules-based order up for grabs almost routinely. The stability & optimism of our recent past is fading fast. We need to join forces on the future, not force isolation upon ourselves. /8
Brexit is neither the beginning or the end of the solution to our glaringly unequal society. We can’t keep papering over the cracks by ignoring critical issues & blaming the EU. But Brexit keeps our political, economic & social energies tied into trauma for years ahead. /9
So stand up & be counted tmw.

March to have your voice heard.

March to have the voices of our friends & neighbours heard.

March for the future of our children & the young.

March because we do care about security in Ireland. /10
March because we still have a choice.

March to give us the chance to have a choice.

March because it should be our choice.

Do everything you possibly can to join us tomorrow. #PeoplesVoteMarch
