LAW 40: Despise the free lunch.

Anything for free involves a trick or attempted obligation. Things of value come at great cost.

Few mental habits will serve you better than always going after what is effortful and out of reach for the mass.
1. Grit is the ultimate skill because time is the ultimate cost. It's not in pain but in attrition warfare with time that most people fail.
You get sustained advantage from skills that take may years to master.

Fewer see the path to mastery, fewer take it, even fewer see it all the way to the end. Most people have skills most people have.

What is easily learnt can be easily surpassed.
You can get in shape - and lose it - in just a few months. You build fortitude and character over many years of trials.

Understand that getting your diet and exercise is just the beginning. The rewards are in the mastery of mind that foundation enables.
Every time you slip into a routine that seems to work, it's just a matter of time it breaks down.

You lose the war with time and inertia the moment you stop moving towards improving.
2. When you pay your dues, you're more likely to appreciate what you have acquired.

The value is embedded in the moment of production, not in the moment of consumption.
3. Every time you settle for what seems to work, you deny yourself what could work better.

Excellence doesn't come from a magic formula of perfection, but from your willingness to keep on forever.
When you take a bag of money, make sure you're not selling out your aspirations and your Vision of Yourself.

Money's great, but no amount of it will make up for the regret and loneliness of a fake life.
Learn to pay the price and succeed on your own terms, without compromise.
4. Beware people who offer you easy money. They are fools or frauds - no exceptions.
Acquiring the skills that bring the money is more valuable than the money the skills bring.

Money comes and goes, the skills can last you a lifetime.
5. Help people without expectation because expectation seeds aggravation.
6. Understand that accepting help from people puts you on a level with them, and giving help puts you on the high ground.
7. Cultivate a certain callousness towards people who want to put you in debt to themselves.

If someone did you good only to abuse your favor later, you owe them nothing, maybe even less.
Authentic generosity is not in expectation of repayment.

A gift confers no obligation.

Make people understand this, the hard way if you must.
The FREE daily email puts you in no obligation and offers no free lunch because you still have to do the work.

Mastery of mind permits no shortcuts.

Don't subscribe if you will only waste your time in wishful thinking.
