2/ Generally, management of broadcast properties have made “Truth in Reporting” a Hallmark of that pledge of community service. If they reported stories that were maliciously created to damage people’s perception of other people (frequently places, things, products, etc,)
3/ they could be sued and the FCC could punish the licensees. Trump is right when he says, “media should clean up its act.” In my judgment media precipitates more danger in one weekend with their lies and innuendos than I ever saw in a year of radio/TV news reporting in Chicago.
