#Learning ‘Any thing can happen’ culminates from the concept that market movement is a factor of numerous known and unknown random variables; today’s gap down which is on account of a random variable called Trump/Iran variable shifted the entire market direction upside down...
.... in an otherwise up trending scenario; charts don’t reflect all random variables; it reflects only known random variable and markets expectation on them. For eg, coming budget is a known random variable, economic events like data announcement, monetary policy etc ....
.... are known random variables. Known random variables are already known by market but for its outcome. This will adjust the chart structure if the outcome of the known random variables is not what market expected / not what was priced in; Unknown random variables on the other..

Learn to Trust People with Firsthand Experience:
A thread about trust in teaching and learning

My thoughts after reading this article....
#AcademicChatter #teaching #learning #edtech #HumanizeOL #facdev #instructdev
forbes.com/sites/amyander…
1/ Learning to trust people with firsthand experience sounds pretty straightforward and logical, but time and again we see instances of leaders thinking they know better. Such were my thoughts as a young teacher advocating to the State legislature for my job and for my students.
2/ When I started teaching at Bear Lake high school in 2009, the state of Idaho had just made education budget cuts and were confronting additional cuts over several years to come due to the economic recession.

It’s not my fault that the work is not done!

I always watch out for people who would not take responsibility for the end result and want to keep such people at bay.

#law #lawyers #lawstudents #learning #lawsikho
So does everyone who has the experience of handling a team, a business, or any responsible position.

There are two kinds of people out there - some of them have learned how to get things to work,
And there are those who can give you impeccable reasons for why things did not work.

I try to find how can I make things work when it is not supposed to work, and I have made a career out of it.

#Neuroscientists worldwide are increasingly studying #myelin and its amazing impact on rapid #learning, mastery, and neuroplasticity. So keep your circuits strong with deep, focused practice, but remember: #myelination requires quality versus quantity.
What Is #Myelination?
Myelination is the process of “insulating” a new neural pathway to strengthen it and to forge new default #behaviors. Heavily myelinated neural pathways are up to 300 times faster.
They’ve been optimized for speed and #efficiency. Increasing #myelination via intentional #practice helps us become more emotionally agile.

The course is teaching how learning happens. The course lessons are backed up by #neurological science. #Learning is not something only for the young, there are techniques that are easily obtainable to help you learn difficult subjects in any discipline.

"We ordinarily think of learning as something we do when we sit down to study a book. But actually, being able to learn more easily and deeply involves many important facets--including not only periods of focused concentration, but also periods of relaxation...

Just a few minutes until this week's #BIWisdom. Join us to discuss #Data #culture . What might it be, how do you use it, how can you value it, or know if it is working.
Happy #BIWisdom to us all. I hope everyone had a fine week.

Learning about surface vs deep learners. @lsu Teaching Colloquium. Thinking about implications and applications of learned information.
Learner needs to regard info as important, intriguing, or beautiful. Then deep learning occurs. Learner needs to be in charge of the question. But, few students will not take a deep approach to learning.
Students are conditioned to take a surface approach to learning. School is the biggest place that conditions surface learning. #KenBains #learning #whatTheBestCollegeTeachersDo

It's that day of the year again!

The @worldbank World Development Report is out!
"The Changing Nature of Work"

And as some of you know, I always read it on the day of publication and live tweet my review

Background: here's my review of the last 5 WDRs oxfamblogs.org/fp2p/is-there-…
Last year's WDR on education has been heard loud and clear

#WDR2019 starts by acknowledging the importance of learning outcomes

(Well done to the WDR2018 team for all their comms work, within and beyond the bank)
But... the implication seems to be that if you improve the human capital of workers, then pay will also increase

Many things might spring to mind when someone says the word assessment, so this thread aims to clarify that our Assessment Lead Programme is nothing to do with data drops or tracking systems but everything to do with using the craft of assessment to support teaching & learning
When we talk about assessment, we’re referring to a planned, purposeful process that produces valuable information that leads to better decisions about #teaching & #learning
By supporting you to make your assessment practice & approach more effective & efficient, you can do more with less for a more manageable & meaningful use of #assessment

My experience with learning modes - Text vs Video content

- Due to concentration lapse, it's easier to drop off for a few minutes from a video content (> 5 mins)

- Concentration lapses happen in text too, but its easier to re-read the para vs rewinding the video

#learning
- For consuming the same amount of content, text form is less time consuming than videos.

- To explain complex topics/situations, texts usually take more time building up the context than videos.
- We try to understand things by building mental imagery, that way videos are more efficient than text because it takes a bit of time to build the mental imagery from interpreting the text and yet you might not be building the right imagery.

💪A thread on amazing Twitter threads 😍👇
In the process of revamping my #Twitter profile (dormant earlier), I have come to appreciate the wonderful underutilized platform it is!
Some threads contain crisp knowledge capsules that can help many. Starting 1 on such curated content
1. I largely rely on this: threadreaderapp.com to find content
2. What I wish to share is what coincides largely with my interests- #Learning, #Investing, #Behavioralpsychology (#mentalmodels, #bias, etc), #Businessbooks, Industry insights/case studies, Life experiences, etc
3/n
While it will be difficult to structure the order of content here, I will try to block threads by category (as noted above & more). Feel free to comment with any good thread that you would have come across. Cumulative learning always helps.
