This morning, there will be another pre-trial conference in the #2020Census case, preparing for next week’s trial.

Look out for my coverage.
Back from the final pretrial hearing:

Citing public interest, the NYAG wants to play the videotaped deposition of assistant AG John Gore at trial, but Judge Furman shot that down - stating that he could watch it privately.

If he does, Furman said, the footage would be public.
The remainder of the hearing involve last-minute pretrial preparations, sorting out whether testimony via affidavit would be allowed; which witnesses would be called for what purpose, by whom and when; and what evidence is admissible for what purpose.
The wild card here, as always, is SCOTUS, which has not yet ruled on the DOJ's motion to stay the trial.

The plaintiffs have not yet filed a motion opposing a stay, but the NYAG announced they intend to do that.
Barring that, trial will start on Monday at 9:30 am, and the coverage will be much more eventful than today's hearing.

No story today, but I'll keep you posted on any important developments.
