No, because the party is institutionally racist. This is what that looks like I’m afriad. See also the story about two Labour councillors who stepped down today because they were abused for calling out antisemitism in the local party
This stuff will keep happening. That guy’s views will have been well known to his local party but it will have been so factional and myopic to antisemtism that he was nominated anyway. It’s happening all over the Labour Party.
It’s because a culture has been allowed to develop where people are not educated about what antismetism is, whistleblowers and victims are treated as traitors and the leadership constantly signal that this is ok
Meanwhile, the disciplinary and complaints proces is a complete joke, infected by factional politics and a parody of what a sensitive equalities approach should be. So there is no chance of this getting better.
And I’m truly sorry to say it.

What a shame. I was heartened to see the Golders Green mosque, which got a lot of nasty criticism from within the Jewish community when it took over the building, was organising an outreach event commemorating Muslims who helped Jews during the Holocaust. Now cancelled.

THREAD: I think we need to talk about the lefts stance on Party rebirth, & the holier than thou attitude that #Labour has on #libdems & tuition Fees. Given the rise of the far right & how much we actually agree on we really should be working together, so lets try to clear this up
For many of us @LibDems, we left @UKLabour when they voted & took us into Iraq.
Now the Labour left make the argument that Labour is not the same party that it was with Blair, & because Corbyn voted against Iraq; all must be forgiven. The party should be allowed to start afresh.
Fair enough. But if this was the case, why was Tim Farron nailed to the tuition fees cross by Labour campaigners at the last election? He voted AGAINST Fees in the same way Corbyn voted against Iraq.

The British Labour Party is institutionally racist. It refused yesterday to adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism - which has been accepted by the UK and 30 other governments across the globe. /1
The 1999 Macpherson report on the murder of Stephen Lawrence established that minorities are best placed to define what constitutes prejudice against them. /2
The new Labour ruling says in effect that this legal decision doesn’t apply to Jewish people, of whom there are barely a quarter of a million in the UK. /3
