Thanks to Dr. @ShireenMazari1, the PM is advised to sign International Convention on Enforced Disappearances. Last two civilian governments were not allowed to sign it though.

Convention says that no order from any authority - civil or military - can be invoked to justify an enforced disappearance. That might also be the problem for a state that proudly carries the ghastly military courts as a badge of honour. 3/n
So even if Pakistan becomes a state party on the Convention, there is little hope that the enforced disappearances can be halted in our country. But we shall at least have a legal framework of the civilian authorities are allowed to bring one. For this kind of.... 4/n
Legal framework, one must acknowledge the efforts of Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar of #PPP who chairs Senate's Human Rights Committee. He has been after it for last few months. And before him, the proposal was spearheaded by the stalwarts like @FarhatullahB @a_siab and Raza Rabbani.
Salute to all of these lawmakers who have been continuously raising it. Sometimes at great personal cost.
