Longest midterm line I ever experienced. #ElectionDay #blackmenvote #VotingWhileBlack #dressupfordemocracy
It was actually exciting to stand in line. Things were a little confusing with our New York ballots and the large number of people. But it was dope to see neighbors helping each other navigate the process.
There were people directing traffic. Someone pointed out available booths to me and I did the same for another. That’s the entire point right? To be in this together. To have each other’s backs.
I asked an older black woman in line how she was feeling and she said, “Hopeful.” And that made ME hopeful. It’s contagious, and I’m happy to spread that meme. Wherever you are out there, #StayInLine, help each other out. We outnumber the forces of pettiness and division.
And if you're having trouble voting, reach out to @866OURVOTE. Call the number, and hang in there. People throughout history did the same for us. It's the only reason we're here.
