Things I'll be looking out for in deal, when we finally get to see it...
Can transition be extended? If so, by how long, and is the mechanism reusable? This is crucial as everyone accepts 2yrs not enough time to sort a future deal. If it can't be, backstop v.likely to happen.
Backstop: Is it time limited? If not, how can it be ended? Unilaterally, or jointly, or via an independent body? According to which criteria would that decision be made?
Does the backstop apply to just N.Ireland or the whole of the UK? Does it apply to customs or regulations too?
By regulations, do we mean just agricultural and industrial good standards, or also state aid, workers' rights, environmental standards, tax loopholes?
If, as expected, the backstop is all-UK for customs and then additional regulatory checks for N.Ireland, then how will you avoid checks, esp on agricultural goods, in the Port of Larne?
