This is important, and well done to @AmnestyUK who raised the alarm about the gang matrix and the way it was being applied. The ICO have found it led to "multiple and serious breaches of data protection laws"
Here are things the ICO found were wrong with the gang matrix. Shows how what may have been a good idea to start with (keeping a list of people suspected of being in gangs) was poorly executed and therefore unjustifiably caught many boys and young men in a dragnet of suspicion 
Also shows how human rights offer redress to people whose lives are being unjustifiably ruined by organs of the state. The right to privacy and family life and anti-discrimination should be at the heart of our data protection laws. Well done @AmnestyUK amnesty.org.uk/press-releases…
