It's #InternationalMensDay.

Again.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Don't @ me.
I know that the pressure to conform to masculine stereotypes can engender existential crises in men and boys. I am not without sympathy.

But I've taken my last 'patriarchy hurts men equally' lecture from men who can't find the toilet cleaner.

Seriously. Stop it.
Patriarchy benefits men. It benefits poor men and it benefits men of colour. It benefits disabled men and it benefits unhappy men.

Benefitting men is its raison d'etre.

That doesn't mean I don't love my brother, stupid.
If you really want to help smash the patriarchy, your first priority is not learning to weep I'm afraid.

It's calling out your fellow men - your friends - for their rape apologism; their sexist comments. It's actually doing 50% of the unpaid domestic and emotional labour.
It's about actually being prepared to give up your power and privilege.

Men who claim that unhappiness makes for a magic eraser, are not men ready to let that power and privilege go.
