Me : I happen to agree with it for hate speech but then in the UK we have laws which deal with this i.e. a negative right to freedom of expression. Another danger occurs when it becomes extended to close down legitimate debate.
... I think the balance in UK law is about right and I see no reason to extend beyond that. Elsewhere, well it depends on the local law. I've never been a big fan of freedom of speech ideals in the US but then I didn't grow up with that.
... however, that said, the use of violence to prevent speech is something I find very disturbing as it can quickly be associated with righteous ideals. I prefer debate over violence. I also prefer set boundaries of speech as per the UK.
