So, about this Jesse Kelly thing . . .

Twitter should be transparent, especially for prominent public accounts. He’s a radio host and former candidate for public office. The silence raises the inference that he was banned for reasons that can’t withstand public scrutiny. 1/
Social media platforms should be run on First Amendment principles, and participants who complain about toxic public voices should be reminded they have mute and block options. 2/
But there is immense progressive peer pressure to make sure that Twitter/Facebook are instruments of progressive social change. The idea that progressives build platforms that conservatives successfully use to advance their ideas is intolerable to some. 3/
When Silicon Valley idealists spoke of “changing the world,” for most the last thing on their mind was making the world more conservative or advancing the right more broadly. So, when that happens, the pressure for corrective action is overwhelming. /end
