This is incorrect. Gates can give Mueller much of what Manafort can; Flynn can give (overall) even more information on collusion—and collusion with more nations—than Manafort can, and the same is true for Erik Prince. Sessions and Clovis have *much* to add, as do Cohen and Sater.
2/ Matt is right that this is bad news for Mueller, but a) there's every reason to think—once Trump dangled a pardon before Manafort the *first* two or three times—that Mueller knew Manafort might lie, (b) there are other witnesses and other types of evidence besides testimonial.
3/ Matt is also forgetting that Trump never keeps his mouth shut. What was he saying in private calls to Tom Barrack, who had a lot to add on Saudi-Emirati collusion even *without* midnight calls from POTUS? And what about Bannon? This case is so much wider than Manafort's piece.
