🌲twitter doesn't go far enough: certain cities are self-evidently much more corrosive to human life than others of comparible or even smaller magnitude. I have never met a resident of Tokyo, but I doubt tge average one is as wretched as New Yorkers or (white) Londoners.
I'm starting to think the concepts of "feng shu" and "genius loci" may have had a point. We need a field of urban demonology to study the malign influences on anglophone port cities.
