Why?

Here's a great example: some bright fuckwit at Police HQ thinks
"🤔 Hmm I need to see that person's bank transactions because they might, maybe, possibly a terrorist! (actually I dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)...

Hey, Bank; you must insert a back door so I can access their accounts. And you can't tell anyone."

Now there's a huge gaping fucking hole in the fence around our online banking for anyone (not just Fuckwit Policeman #1) to gain access to our bank accounts.

Here's another one: some bright spark is inevitably going to ask Apple to make a back door into their iPhones.

We already know Apple's stance on this (after the San Bernardino shooting where the FBI tried to force them to unlock a phone, but Apple just told the FBI to fuck right off).
If Australia asks the same thing, guess what Apple will do? They'll stop selling the iPhone in Australia!

But the new law means that Apple might never know one of their Australian engineers put a back door into the phone. Ok, makes perfect sense for Apple to just lay off all their Australian employees.

So now we have loads of previously high paid (ie; high tax paying) people out of jobs, and no fucking iPhones. Because our government has the technical understanding of a fucking 1 year old.

It gets better! You know how every time you put your credit card into a website, it'll say "✔️ secure" or "❌ insecure"? That's thanks to a great technology called HTTPS (where the S stands for _Secure_ Transport Layer).

Well guess what? The Australian government can now go to _any_ internet provider in Australia and say: "we need access to those secure pages you're sending."

Oh look; another back door. ON EVERY PAGE ON THE FUCKING INTERNET. Good luck not getting your identity or CC or bank details or personal info or private photos or personal messages fucking stolen.

I need a fucking drink.
