The West's problems run too deep to be fixed by elections, protests, riots or even revolutions and coups. The West's problems come from its core philosophical commitments.
The idea that you could produce significant change without addressing the modern West's core philosophical commitments is PART of the problem. It's a 'feature' of our core philosophy that it masquerades as 'common sense' and hides its own presuppositions.
The most likely outcome of current Western populist politics (left and right) is we're going to get a crappier version of the same thing. The same institutions, but run by people who no longer believe in them, who have no idea how to replace them or do better.
