How do we know the FBI ever relinquished oversight of the obstruction of justice case?
Would be comical if Trump has been laser-focused on Mueller while Chris Wray and the FBI were outflanking him.
Mueller was tasked with investigating Russian election meddling.
The obstruction case focuses on later acts.
If it was left under the domain of the FBI, Trump couldn’t shut it down by firing Mueller - which would be more obstruction.
The FBI could have completed its obstruction investigation and sat on criminal charges pending the completion of Mueller’s work.
If Mueller gets fired, they pull the “dead man’s switch” and let obstruction charges fly.
