Some starling things said for the Prime Minister yesterday’s @UKEUchallenge hearing by Sir James, defending:
1) the people of this country have a right that they can cast a ballot; but no connected right that the vote be fair....
2) this challenge is brought too late and too soon [how can justice ever be sought if so?]
3) the PM knows full well the referendum is “blemished” “nobody contends otherwise” but she has decided to nothing about corruption at all and trudges on...

May's going ahead with her meaningful vote. She'll do all she can to win, but she'll almost certainly lose, & if she wins she'll be taken down by the DUP. No Deal Brexit is not a realistic option. Her explicit "threat" to those who don't vote for her deal is no Brexit at all. 2/
No Deal Brexit is unsustainable. If May loses the meaningful vote she'll start the process for cancelling Brexit. After that it's a blame game. She explains to Marr how she'll apportion the blame. And in many respects she is correct - or at least her explanation is plausible. 3/

It’s ludicrous that this one woman:

A) personally decided as an executive act to leave the EU

B) recast advisory referendum as mandatory

C) purported to trigger A50 with the knowledge it was a criminally tainted referendum

D) had no impact assessments for her decision
The people didn’t decide to do brexit.

Our parliament don’t either.

It was just @theresa_may on her own.

With not impact assessments.

No plan.

And no more formality than running a bath.

Total.

Total.

Joke.
Brexit is built on sand.

It’s an insult to our country and our constitution to do it this way.

If do it we must.

And now it is unpopular as well.

There is a principal issue underlying the case that poses a simple question: is a lawful, free and fair vote one of the constitutional requirements of the UK? It's asked after 2 Electoral Commission (EC) Reports found that illegality & corruption dogged the ref campaign. /2
Let me make this clear. The EC findings were to the criminal standard of proof (beyond reasonable doubt) & serious offences were committed by the designated campaign for leaving the EU (& others), in breach of the statutory framework established by Parliament for the ref. /3

This morning the Prime Minister has written to me regarding #Windrush crisis: "Let me be clear: people who have spent a lifetime here are entitled to be here and access the public services to which they have contributed - through their taxes, or in many cases by working in them".
"It is not a question of granting them an amnesty - as that would imply that they were previously outside the law - but of enabling them to secure documentation which attests to their status". A number of questions now follow from this letter I have received from the PM. Thread:
- For what reason have Windrush Children been treating "outside the law" by your Government?
- For what reason have Windrush Children been threatened with deportation, stripped of their rights and denied access to public services they have paid taxes for and indeed worked in?
