Between 2004 and 2010, the number of Nigerians living in poverty grew from 66 million to 112 million, according to official data.

In that same time, India, largely by seriously implementing Social Investment Programmes, successfully brought down poverty from 37.2% to 29.8%.

Note that last household survey of poverty in Nigeria was done 2010, which indicated 112m Nigerians living in poverty,up from 66m in 2004. I believe NBS currently working on next survey

Did we SERIOUSLY pursue any AMBITIOUS poverty eradication(like India) between 2004—2015?

Data Source:

“In 2004, Nigeria’s relative poverty measurement stood at 54.4%, but increased to 69% (or 112,518,507 Nigerians) in 2010.”

From a Press Briefing by Statistician-General, on the Nigerian Poverty Profile Report 2010: proshareng.com/news/Nigeria%2…
When Brazil launched Bolsa Familia - a Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme, giving cash to poor households monthly -in 2003, about 1 in 10 Brazilians lived in extreme poverty, according to World Bank data. By 2009, the number had fallen by 75%. What was Nigeria doing in those years?
