Butina was charged with conspiracy to violate the FARA. Former Russian Federation member Alexsander Torshin appeared to be her unnamed co-conspirator. Her job was to advance Moscow's interests & develop relationships in the US, including through her work with the NRA
.@YesMomsCan just reminded me about this great tweet that gives you a timeline on Butina, Torshin & the NRA.
Note that in May of 2016, Torshin tried to broker a Trump-Putin meeting. This was after NRA leaders joined him in Russia the previous December, the same week General Flynn was in Moscow.

Literally no federal prosecutor ever expected this to be the case. I think it still surprises us all when people are interested in the difference between an indictment & an information or want to know why a grand jury gets extended for an additional 6 months.

2/3 We will find out if GOP leaders who privately acknowledge Trump is a train wreck but hold on for whatever reason-power, judges, tax cuts for the wealthy-have sufficient character to stand for country over party & withstand his onslaught. Same for Americans who voted for him.
3/3 To paraphrase Albus Dumbledore, the time is coming when we will have to decide between doing what is easy & what is right. Our country has withstood hard tests. We have that ability. 2019 will require us to reject people who try to divide us so we can work together.

1/3 Flynn’s plea agreement has 2 key provisions: he is only protected from further prosecution for offenses included in his statement of the facts & the plea agreement only binds the Special Counsel’s office. What does that mean? justice.gov/file/1015121/d…
2/2 Flynn’s plea agreement says he won’t face further charges for conduct detailed in his statement of offense. The statement of offense only relates Flynn’s false statements. assets.documentcloud.org/documents/4318…
3/3 Even if the statement of offense could be read expansively to protect Flynn from other charges it is increasingly clear he could face, the plea is only between Flynn and the Special Counsel‘s office. In other words, a U.S. Attorney’s offices bring other charges.

JD Gordon once said Trump campaign was too disorganized to collude with Russians. Yet he fell right into Butina's honey pot. As I've said before, disorganized and stupid coupled w/ desperation is precisely what made team Trump easy prey for Russian spies.
A simple google search would make you wonder about #Butina. Gun rights are an absurdity in Russia, where more basic rights are lacking. She hangs with Torshin, a Kremlin banker w/ mob ties. But instead of calling FBI, Trump aide Gordon invites her to drinks & a Styx concert (yup)
