Despite the Conservatives campaign of misinformation, it is clear that adopting the #GCM is not only the right thing to do but the smart thing to do. 2/7
Canada is a leader in welcoming and integrating immigrants thanks to a widespread understanding that when immigrants are given the tools to succeed, they help grow our economy. 3/7
As a leader we need to share our best practices with partner countries to make sure that they have a system in place to help immigrants integrate and succeed. 4/7
International migration is a growing phenomenon. Last year, there were some 258M migrants, a 50% increase since the year 2000.

It’s disappointing to see the Conservatives try to import the divisive rhetoric that we have seen elsewhere in the world. They have resorted to spreading lies to scare Canadians away from international collaboration on this important topic. 6/7
Let me make this very clear: The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration shouldn’t be used as a political weapon.
We must continue to work together to fight fear with facts.
