U.S. immigration and military intervention policy murdered this girl, Jakelin Ameí Rosmery Caal Maquin.
This is Jakelin’s family via photographer @estebanbiba He visited them in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala and recounts that around 80 people live in their community, the majority are farmers and there is no running water or electricity. Claudia her mother awaits the body of her daughter.
And for all of you responding that it was her father’s fault, not the border patrol nor US government please check this thread

She was seven years old.

Jakelin was in Border Patrol custody when she died last week of dehydration and cardiac arrest.

When you live in a city with a huge Hispanic population, you have seen this little girl, again and again. She is walking down the street with her mother. She is sitting next to her parents, waiting for a bus.
She is covetously looking at the jelly beans as her mother pays for her groceries ahead of you. This is the face of large swathes of first grade in the Los Angeles Unified School District. When you grow up in a largely Hispanic community, like Los Angeles, you know them.
Hispanic families are tight. I mean, most of us love our children, but Hispanic families do everything together. There is no "Parents Date Night," there is no moving away to go to school; by virtue of economics and inclination, family is everything to them.

I will never forgive or forget that a 7 year old girl died of thirst, shock, and exhaustion in the custody of American law enforcement.

It is a gross human rights violation. A form of genocide.

The basic compassion & dignity she deserved has been removed by this government.
