Just read this interview from a few weeks ago where @aimeemann talks in detail about her early records and when it got to the end I wanted the conversation to keep going all the way up to the present day. It's a really great conversation.

I remember "discovering" @aimeemann's music in 1996, when I was living in Liverpool and the album I'm With Stupid made me feel less creatively lonely at a time when I was frustrated & angry. The opening lines to this song hit me like a ton of bricks, in a good way:
That album remains one of my favorite records of all time, and back when I first got it I listened to it obsessively. Every song on it sounds great to me, and I feel like I learned more about the way the world is from the sentiments on that record than I ever learned in school.
Stuff like this in the interview just enrages me. This is from the Til Tuesday years but this kind of unimaginative person with the power to say "no" to good ideas remains a huge problem in every nook & cranny of show business, and probably every business!
I remember being so angry when waiting for Bachelor No. 2 to be self-released because idiotic record labels didn't want it. This was before PTA built Magnolia around her songs & proved that none of the people at those labels knew what the fuck they were talking about.
The PTA-directed music video for "Save Me" is what I watch when I don't have 3 spare hours to watch all of "Magnolia" and it scratches the itch.
It's also a great example of how everything is swings & roundabouts bc no label could "hear a single" but here she is not long after with Tom Cruise in the music video so those idiots can go fuck themselves and yet the Oscar somehow goes to the song from the Tarzan movie
Anyway that interview is a great read & makes me wanna go back & re-listen to all of the records but I gotta wait till after XMAS. Til then, this is the only one I can listen to. (I was asked on a radio show yesterday to name a great modern xmas LP & this was the one I named 1st)

R.I.P. Bob Einstein

This is probably my favorite scene in my favorite film of all time, Modern Romance. I remember the first time I saw it, realizing that it was Super Dave Osborne (whom I knew from his great deadpan talk show appearances) & later realizing he was AB's brother
Einstein had maybe the single best deadpan of any late night guest, better even than Grodin at his peak maybe! His bits were always great but my favorite parts were always when the audience would laugh and he would stop and glare at them, or at Dave.
It's just tremendous the way he times those reactions, feeding off Dave's timing and the energy of the audience...

Honestly, I think all the headlines about Holmes & Watson being the worst comedy of the year are going to end up making it a film that people discover later on & are pleasantly surprised that it isn't the worst movie they've ever seen. It is a C- comedy that is getting F- grades
I think all the articles about audiences walking out and it being so bad that even Netflix wouldn't save it give a false impression of it. I also think that critics are always angrier when a movie isn't screened (esp. if it means they all had to spend XMAS day watching it)
This is perhaps an uncool opinion but although the movie is a mixed bag and suffers in comparison to the previous to Ferrell/Reilly pairings, I don't get a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes feeling from this movie. (I guess it's up to 7% now, but still.)

To start, the tax bill DISPROPORTIONATELY, OVERWHELMINGLY benefitted the super-wealthiest--83% of the tax cuts went to the 1%. The top .1% (POINT 1%) received an average cut of $148,260. This is a bill that was sold as predominately helping the middle class, what did you get?

Trump is cutting off a critical source of information, since he’s mad said source has said bad things about him. It’s what authoritarian governments do. 📞📞📞

Hi everyone. I'd like to share a thread with you about a story I've been reporting on over the last few weeks.

It concerns burials for the Jewish & Muslim communities in 4 London boroughs - Hackney, Islington, Camden & Tower Hamlets.
2) It began a month ago, when 1 of my colleagues wrote a story about a Jewish man whose family were told they would have to wait weeks for an autopsy.

Now this is a big problem for Jews, because Jewish law dictates that the body of the deceased be buried as soon as possible...
3) The family, very distressed, contacted my paper (the @JewishChron). We asked the coroner's office about it, & miraculously, the autopsy was rescheduled to take place within 24 hours (see the attached story by my colleague)

All over, right? Wrong
