Judges are never potted plants in their courtroom. They impose real scrutiny & demand real cooperation from defendants & full truth from everyone. That’s what Judge Sullivan is doing here.
Trump tried to stop the Flynn investigation, discredit the prosecution & excuse criminal conduct because he fears what Flynn knows about him & others in his orbit.
Extraordinary events today deepen Trump’s legal jeopardy because Flynn must tell all about what Trump did & knew concerning contacts & collusion with Russians.

Because of the #TrumpShutdown, 800,000 workers are not getting paid, but senior officials are receiving a raise? Utterly unfair & another insult to the hardworking men & women currently working w/out pay & forced to make substantial sacrifices while the gov't is closed.
Accepting these raises makes clear these “leaders” fail a basic tenet of leadership—putting what’s best for the group above one’s own self interests.

Unacceptably missed deadlines! Lifesaving railroad technology—Positive Train Control—still lacking on almost all rail lines, despite Dec 31 deadline. FRA must hold them accountable with $27,904 per day fines if necessary.
Metro North's failure to meet the deadline for Positive Train Control is absolutely unacceptable. Requested delay to next year seems to put safety at risk, after repeated extensions.
Congress must be clear to rail companies: No more statutory extensions for Positive Train Control deadlines. Stiff fines & other penalties should be imposed for future failures. Rail safety is at stake.

He must be willing to make firm & specific commitments about protecting the Special Counsel’s investigation, ensuring DOJ’s independence from political interference, & upholding the rule of law.

Setting aside that the statement is factually false, there is something about Judge Sullivan politically pious ejaculation in court that commands a closer look. In full disclosure, I don't know the judge but I appeared before him once while practicing in DC.
At that time, and ever after, I have said that I found his treatment of my clients' request to be reasonable and fair ... wrong, for sure, but judges will make errors and sometimes that is just compounded by angry vitriols or personal biases.
