I’m not much for airing dirty laundry but this needs to be addressed. I worked as a chapter leader of Girl Develop It. And I am still proud of that. But something has happened that I’m not proud of. #gdistrike. (1/5)

My dad rents space from a guy in the limo renting business. His partner jumped on the opportunity to purchase (the) Jennifer Lopez's 2013 (?) Rolls Royce Ghost lease turn in. It's an awesome car.
EVERYTHING costs a fortune... Front break pads alone are $600!
The dealer wanted $12,000 to fix the air ride that was an issue in video (notice the front end tad low)
So Mike is the owner of the car. He has yet another guy, Dave, they all work together sharing vehicles to rent. Decent set up as long as everyone respects everything.
Well, Dave said he needed the J-Lo Rolls, the real Rolls, (he has a kit POS fake rolls limo) OK, but Mike said he needed it Monday for a job...

My dad already doesn't like Dave, stiffed him for $700, but really likes Mike.

While I was a CL I experienced a complete lack of support in efforts to do better by our community. We waited and waited for policy changes to make our lives easier and they never came.
And now, as their infractions have come to light in the past 6 months, I feel complicit in my silence. We held out hope for leadership and guidance, but it turns out they were too busy keeping the status quo and actively hurting women of color.

I’m interested in why people perceive whistleblowers as the problem, and not the people committing the actual crime that the person felt compelled to report.

Are we a community of professionals that still operate ‘tattle-tale’ rules of the playground?

That ‘telling’ is bad?
For example, if I was to say ‘this professional of this institution was found to have done X’

More people would probably respond with ‘omg why is she putting that out into the public arena and airing dirty laundry?’ than ‘omg that professional has done something terrible’.
Whilst we all still operate like this, we ALL collude with abuse, discrimination, bullying, offending & poor practice.

We ask our clients to trust us with their safety and their wellbeing but we can’t even trust each other. Even when someone raises a concern, they are silenced.

1/ Well said. In #Germany there is far, far too much complacency about what the #AFD are doing. “Just the far-Right having a laugh.”
2/ Every few weeks the #AFD say something eye-wateringly racist then walk it back. They’re not just joking or being provocative, they are testing the water. They are an abuser, grooming a victim.
