So Square, the maker of mobile payment hardware and software, is leasing the former Sears building in Oakland. Here's some of what we know about Square:
Square founder Jack Dorsey was a leading opponent of Proposition C, San Francisco's recent ballot measure to tax large corporations to fund homeless services.

The technology Square is based on was allegedly stolen by Dorsey and his co-founder from a third person, Robert Morley.
Square paid Morley $50 million to settle a lawsuit over the matter.

Square, which owns Caviar, is being sued by its contractor labor force. Square treats these workers as contractors, not employees, thereby dodging various legal requirements. Here's a discussion of the case in Square's recent SEC quarterly filing.

Square also pays former Clinton Treasury Sec. and former Harvard President Lawrence Summers $300,000 a year to sit on its board.

I wasn't gonna weigh in on this, but since so many people seem to be interested in In-N-Out Burger's recent $25,000 contribution to the CA Republican Party...
In-N-Out Burger also gave $30,000 to the CA Republican Party in 2017. Nobody freaked out back then.
They gave about the same amount as the private prison company GEO Group and the credit card company VISA.
Walt Disney Co. gave about the same amount to the state Republican Party as the fast food company. This was matched by CoreCivic, another private prison operator.
Other contributors to the Republicans in this same league: beer maker MillerCoors and the dialysis company Davita.

Twitter employees can and should demand better governance, whether through an ombudsperson or user advocate, advisory board, employee union, or all of the above. At the very least, Twitter needs a full-time CEO who can run Nazis off the platform, not a half-time celebrity chaser.
Twitter engineers and ops people have the power to make real change happen at Twitter. The obstacle has been coordinating and uniting around a concrete set of demands, but I hope that with time they will power through and find a way.
