1/Over the holidays, one relative talked about upcoming trip to Zion National Park and another about her veganism/animal rights work. I myself never searched for these things. I’m now seeing ads for Zion National Park and vegan leather bags.
2/ Chalking this up to some kind of sophisticated proximity-based ad targeting, but it’s easy to see why people think our devices are listening to us.
3/ Maybe not surprisingly, lots of people sharing their own stories like this. And lots of guesses as to why this is happening. It’s been reported on before, but if you work in ad tech or for one of the larger tech co’s and want to chat about this - my DMs are always open.
