Welcome to 2019 and to my twitter page. May the Lord bless 2019 beyond your imagination! But before we go any further in this New Year, I thought I’d clarify what Twitter is about for me.
Hopefully this clarification will make 2019 an edifying and fruitful year. At the least it should help you decide whether to stick around or find other people to follow. Here goes:
I am here to build you up but not to puff you up (1 Cor. 8:1).
I am here to comfort the hurting but not to coddle those doing the hurting (Jer. 22:3; 2 Cor. 1:4).
I am here to receive and share instruction but not to entertain the folly of fools (Prov. 1).
I am here to serve your soul but not your flesh (Gal. 5:13).
I am here to reprove and correct where it seems prudent (2 Tim. 3:16) but not to bite and devour (Gal. 5:15).
I am here to speak words of grace according to a hearer’s need (Eph. 4:29), but I am not here to show partiality or entertain partisanship (James 2).
I am here to sometimes challenge—directly and plainly—especially those who think they are rulers and guardians of truth but who deny it or ignore it (Acts 26:26).
I am here for pushback, honest disagreements, and iron sharpening iron, but I am not here for divisiveness from people who are sinful, warped and unsaved (Titus 3:10-11).
If I can, I hope to make you laugh sometimes, but not at the cruel expense of others (Eph. 4:29).
I am here as a shepherd but not as YOUR pastor unless you are a member of ARC. Even then, these are my views and not necessarily those of our diverse church family.
As I do in my preaching, so here on Twitter: I speak for an audience of One who will be my Judge (1 Cor. 4:1-5).
I’m going to do this on my TL. I’m not chasing you over on yours, inserting myself as Twitter police. Do what you like on your TL. But if you come here, know these are the standards for 2019 and beyond. #NoFoolishnessAllowed
I think I’ll start applying all of this with the trolls who showed up to say disparaging things about my mom and/or her little photo of the Obama family. Let me block you now before your mouth writes a check....
