Can’t shake the feeling we all are being subjected to *totally* different Terms of Service.
I wasn’t trying to get this tweet removed. Twitter tells me it is no longer available but not that it has been deleted. Then they sent me to a page for clarification that explained in some corporate speak the many different things that might explain its unavailability to me. Arg.
Now @twitter tells me that *I* in particular am not 'authorized' to see the tweet. Are others "like me" not fit for full twitter? It's not like I called for a violent felony to be perpetrated on others. I just made the mistake of talking ToS.

The speech rule book is fascinating.
Now the Barkin Tweet *is* available once again under a notice that proclaims: “This Tweet Is no longer available. Learn More” linking to a page that can’t possibly explain the raw logical paradox.

I can’t tell who sees what. This feels like a cult disconnecting us from reality.

Joe, we are having lunch with Oleg. You got this wrong. He’s the sweetest most wonderful guy you ever met. No death wish. Good relationship with his mom. Humble. Hard to watch, but the discomfort is from the art.
It’s one man trusting himself at life & death performance art against what? The urban prison we made for ourselves.

I have begged him to stop. But the videos inspire me more than anyone else’s work right now. Let’s show some love for a great artist who is showing us who we are.
His art needs our help. It’s difficult and challenging. It makes us think. We reconsider what is possible. It divides us and spurs meaningful conversation about our purpose and our abilities. Let’s honor the risk this artist took to inspire us all.

One of the world’s greatest men has died. Most of you will have no idea who this is. I just don’t know how to bridge that gap yet to tell you what he did.

I was very close with his top collaborator. They were the Watson and Crick of mathematics to me. They rewrote my whole life.
There is a little known stone wall on Long Island. While flawed, it is a gift to all mankind that should be a pilgrimage site, as an understanding of the contents is nesessary to understand our world. Think of it as transcendent graffiti. Atiyah‘s spray-paint is everywhere here.
Imagine watery planets with holes and twists. Knotted donut planets called base spaces. Crazy oceans called “Vector bundles” and “Principal bundles”.

He told us about how the twists and holes determine what waves must live on them and which cannot.

1/ The Christmas Thread.

First off, Merry Xmas to all.

I’m asking for your help. I want to know whether any of you know about any quiet working groups or meetings involving but not limited to Visa/MC/PayPal/etc working on the issues of “populism”/“radicalization” as euphemisms.
2/ This would be organized by by some group like CFR, NAS or some other blue chip institution. It would be looking to figure out how to handle the “problems” of popular nullification of institutional objectives. In short it would view Brexit, Trump and restrictionism as “hate”.
3/ This quiet meeting would bring together the major “stakeholders”(?) which would not include the public. The twin problems the meeting would actually be trying to solve are “free speech” and “democratic choice” which the public generally doesn’t want solved at all.

So #Facebook & #Instagram (second time in 3 weeks) deleted my accounts. For sharing information about #Kashmir. No explanations or replies to my questions are given. Of course this is not about Facebook, nor about me, but the much more dangerous path SM is taking.
It is all about Justice & about what is happening to many people living under oppression & facing severe surveillance & suppression on the ground and even online.
It is about principals & rights. Human rights. Enshrined in statues & bragged about. Said to be universal. Said to be
I don't know ONE Kashmiri who hasn't been subjected to some form of censorship. On the ground there are far worse consequences than removed posts. Journalists (and MANY civilians) have been trashed, arrested & targeted when covering human rights violations by India.

After 70 years of imperial/neoliberal indoctrination the web of lies is so obviously absurde (9/11, Skripal, WH = ISIS, etc.), that it is dissoluting. The empathetic humanity connects, closes ranks and sends their eternal psychopathic rulers and their lackeys into nowhere land.
The "evil empire" is a lifelong three year old child. I certainly loved my children at that age too, however only because they created not only a surreal mess, but also made steady progress.

A great documentary about psychopathy and society:
The elite invented "democracy" to protect them from the empathetic people. The media are their means for misleading the people sedated by "democracy". This is definitely a bad thing since the people have become educated and the elite almost totally insane.

The GDPR is the new European privacy law, which takes effect May 25th. It's a very complex law, with a lot of consequences. Most of these affect organizations as a whole, rather than groups of users; e.g. things around keeping track of how data is flowing through your systems.
What Facebook has decided to do is to have different terms of service (TOS) for its users inside and outside of the EU, with the EU TOS being legally tied to an agreement with Facebook Ireland and the rest-of-world TOS tied to Facebook US.

I know this is a downer but... for #IWD2018 I am thinking about violence against women. About how violence is enabled & perpetuated. About how gender inequality intersects with other forms of social injustice, like class, race and wealth. About recognition, stories and change.
I am thinking today, as often, about the slave women in the Odyssey, the ones who sleep with the suitors, who have been claimed by the wrong owners, who have the wrong memories. For Odysseus to claim back all power over his household, they need to be eliminated.
