I love it. @geoffreyamoore's excellent response to my original chasm piece. Does a great job clarifying the idea space. In some places we agree (and some we disagree). But wonderful comments throughout.
I broadly agree with the post, except the following which is simply no longer true:

"incumbents have neither the means nor the interest to block a chasm-crossing play because they cannot operate at the small scale involved"

Open Source and Cloud have changed the dynamic here.
Incumbents have trashed entire early sectors by releasing open source or free services. The rational for them may be defensive (protect a larger product line), to aid marketing (stay relevant), or simply for recruiting. And it doesn't require large investment for real impact.

0/ 71% of tech workers in Silicon Valley are foreign (!!). Yet, most founders don't know how to best prepare for the visa process. And the shifts in policy under the current administration are just confusing things further. Here is a short list of things to keep in mind (thread)
1/ Know the basic visa processes that your company will very likely have to be responsible for. H-1B, F-1 OPT/STEM OPT, and PERM/Adjustment of Status – these acronyms shouldn’t sound like gibberish to you.
2. Know that onboarding someone on a visa takes a lot of time and planning. You cannot expect instant onboarding, that is totally unrealistic and puts the company at risk of non-compliance and the potential employee in a place where they may violate their visa status.

0/ I feel this dialog on whether or not to take VC money overly complicates the issue. If you're building or selling something and you need money along the way, it's simply one of many options.
1/ In my world (b2b infra) often a significant amount of R&D is needed to get to an MVP. And just as often, it requires millions of dollars of sales investment before a company is anywhere near break even.
2/ There are many places money can come from, existing employers (e.g. to work on OSS), school, grants, employees working for cheap, employees pitching in, equity and debt.

0/ In my experience “Crossing the Chasm” almost never plays out as written. Rather, it seems as if most b2b startups remain in the chasm through liquidity, or hop from one to the next struggling with multiple shifting markets.
1/ While the “chasm model” is useful as a platonic guideline, founders (or the board) often draw the unrealistic expectations from it that a market will soon mature, and early signs of repeatability mean it’s time to dramatically scale.
2/ While this happens in some (rare) cases. Many b2b companies will continue to struggle with a push-based market through their lifetime -- that was certainly the case with the business I ran — and yet they can still be hugely successful.

Moderately deep & strong, expect some damage, but loss of life unlikely. Magnitude is usually downgraded from initial level.

(3) Some photos from around Anchorage that I've seen on Twitter. In New Zealand we have an earthquake of this type about once or twice a year. It is scary, but thankfully little damage is done.

(4) If you feel an earthquake when you're on a beach or within a few miles of the coast, be aware of #tsunami risk.

"If it's long or strong, get gone." There is no time for warning sirens or messages.

If you don't feel it, that means any tsunami is hours away. You have time.

The Airtel/K2 transaction is neither a merger nor acquisition. It's a brand endorsement arrangement, were K2 entered into agreement allowing @Airtel_Ug to use her Trademark, Brand name (K2 Telecom) & Resources to market @K2Telecom products & services to customers @UCC_Official
Under the Brand Endorsement Agreement, K2 customers will continue enjoying the same or similar services with a different code prefix (0708). The customer migration will be voluntary. Customers will exercise their contractual right to either move to Airtel or not.
