/ @Medium promotes articles from token sale scams to their front page and editor's picks, helping a group of scumbags make money at their readers' expense. That gets a pass. As long as the narrative is full of virtue, that's all that matters.
/ Any articles about actual freedom? "You're scum get f ck d." The prevailing Silicon Valley worldview hates bitcoin and hates freedom. They want to set the agenda, they want to set the tone. They want to define "good" and then make everyone else live by it.
/ Their mission is to shepherd (socially engineer) their users into a world view of big government, endless welfare, surveillance-solves-everything, disarmed and detoothed, man vs woman, black vs white, young vs old, arbitrary ambiguous “hate” as the ultimate sin.
/ The same people complain about bitcoiners being “too ideological.” But look at their actions. They’re willing to risk burning their very lucrative businesses to the ground in their mission to control the information their users have access to, to shape their minds.
/ Bitcoiners are pumped about Jack Dorsey blazing a trail of bitcoin maximalism with Cash App. I’d like to remind you that this is the CEO of a platform that algo’s the crap out of your feed in an effort to manipulate your political opinions and has made it their...
/ ...mission to monitor and optimise your “conversational health.” The kind of platform that shadow bans and is evasive about it, that pushes establishment narratives into your timeline, that sends their users sinister emails
/ Square itself is deeply ensnared in the nexus of KYCAML surveillance compliance hell. This isn't bitcoin. While I'd like to think bitcoin's incentives will be too irresistible, it will likely end badly. Just look at Coinbase.
/ Anyone hoping for Big Tech incumbents to "come round to bitcoin" needs to take a closer look at the world bitcoin creates if it succeeds, and the world that SV business leaders are engaged in building. They diverge. Quite significantly.
/ Bitcoin, in the long run, needs new businesses helmed by a new breed of entrepreneur. Those that are in alignment with the values of bitcoin--genuine freedom, unbreakable principles, and the disintermediation of authority in communication and trade.
