3pm on a rainy afternoon in January 2011 @HAWitek asked me during an interview about a 1 day event called @firstfortnight “whats next?” Off the top of my head I responded “maybe a Mental Health Arts Festival”. The next day it appeared in print and there was no turning back
Rule 14 of Rules for Revolutionaries hadn’t been written at that time and wouldn’t be written for another 5 years by the team at the heart of @BernieSanders campaign. But there we were living it year on year. Letting Action build process as we moved quickly forward.
Today @HAWhiteK wrote another in his long list of articles covering the festival and like those that came before this one featuring @ToeKnee_Wright @StefPreissner @arnoldtfanning is well worth a read

we were at a venue that i won't name, but it's supposed to be a very nice establishment with quite strict rules on entry
everything was going fine to begin with. great food, great company and great wine!

I absolutely despise how Indian companies and founders, with no concept of life-work balance, shame employees for taking leaves and having a life outside work.

Calls on weekends, guilting a person during and post leave, infinite power games. Shameful.
Someone I know in Bangalore took a couple of days leave for a friend’s wedding two months in advance. There was an important high-level meeting when he was away. The founder actually asked him - Was it your wedding? Why could you not take the call and put it on mute?

Unreal.
And of course, there are jerks who proudly claim that when they got married, they were at work THE VERY NEXT DAY. The day we stop having founders and bosses like this, we can perhaps *start* to talk about mental health at workplaces.
