2) During his time with the Trump campaign, Manafort was in regular contact with Konstantin Kilimnik, his longtime employee in Kiev.

Many of these emails appear to pertain to Deripaska.

3) Kilimnik not only had ties to Russian intelligence, but he maintained them in 2016, during the time that Manafort was with the Trump campaign.

Kilimnik, who remains in Russia, has been indicted on witness-tampering charges in relation to Manafort.

5) On July 29, 2016, Kilimnik told Manafort he had spent five hours with “the guy who gave you your biggest black caviar jar several years ago.”

This is almost certainly a reference to Deripaska.

Kilimnik said “the guy” wanted to pass a message on to Manafort.

6) “It has to do about the future of his country, and is quite interesting,” Kilimnik said.

Following the July 29 email, the two men agreed to meet on Aug. 2, 2016, in New York at the Grand Havana Room.

7) According to The Washington Post, “Kilimnik has said the two discussed ‘unpaid bills’ and ‘current news.’

But he said the sessions were ‘private visits,’ that were ‘in no way related to politics or the presidential campaign in the U.S.’”

"he discussed or may have discussed a Ukraine peace plan with Mr. Kilimnik on more than one occasion"

"Manafort “acknowledged” that he and Mr. Kilimnik met while they were both in Madrid."

9) Although only providing correlation at this point, another interesting series of events occurred:

Per an article by Medium, a Jet owned by Deripaska landed at Newark NJ on Aug 2, 2016.

10) “As the Manafort dinner with Kilimnik was taking place, one of three private jets owned by Deripaska was en route to New Jersey from Moscow.

It landed hours after the dinner concluded and took off back to Moscow the next evening. It is unclear who was aboard the jet.

11) Aug 3, 2016 - Deripaska’s jet leaves Newark bound for Moscow:

“The next evening, Deripaska’s plane took off from Newark en route back to Moscow.

In Moscow the jet picked up  Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Prikhodko — and took him to Deripaska's private yacht in Norway.

12) Aug 5 - Deripaska is pictured "on his yacht speaking with Prikhodko.

"Deripaska can be heard explaining why relations between the United States and Russia are so tense, something he appears to attribute in part to a former official", Victoria Nuland.

13) During at least some portion of Manafort’s involvement with the Trump campaign, Manafort may have been under FBI surveillance.

CNN reported in September 2017 that Manafort had been under FISA surveillance since 2014 related to his work for Ukraine.

14) The FISA surveillance on Manafort was reportedly no longer active by late May 2016.

“As Manafort took the reins as Trump campaign chairman in May, the FBI surveillance technicians were no longer listening.”

15) However, surveillance on Manafort was re-started:

"The FBI interest deepened last fall [2016] because of intercepted communications between Manafort and suspected Russian operatives.”

16) In March 2017, Deripaska took out newspaper advertisements “stating that he was willing to participate in hearings before Congress.” His offer was ignored.

Deripaska tried again in May - this time through his lawyer, Adam Waldman.

Deripaska’s offer was again rebuffed.

17) On April 6, 2018 the United States imposed sanctions against 24 Russians, including Deripaska, who called the decision “very unfortunate but not unexpected.”

On Oct. 8, the U.S. govt moved to freeze Deripaska’s U.S. assets, including mansions in Manhattan and Washington.

Steele - who appeared to have lobbied for Deripaska w/ Bruce Ohr - has known Deripaska since at least 2012, when he was hired by Waldman on behalf of Deripaska
