...through the intermediary Kilimnik to the two Ukrainian oligarchs Lyovochkin and Akhmetov than to Deripaska, a Russian known to be close to Putin? Less likely, it seems to me -- though @joshtpm isn't wrong to point out US polling data seems of limited value to them.
The issue is whether Manafort, while running the campaign, collaborated with Russian intelligence. Passing data to Deripaska would be hard evidence he probably was. I don't know enough to say that of passing data to Lyovochkin and Akhmetov. This was a major error by @nytimes
