Thread - clear (beyond argument) untruth by the PM.
And this thread reinforces the evidence of untruth.
What is the importance of the untruth? Two points.
One is that it’s always concerning that a politician says things about the recent past that are flatly untrue - particularly one who has the resources of @10DowningStreet and the civil service at her disposal, to fact check.
The other is that the point shows that the treatment of a referendum result - especially a tight one - is also a matter of political choice.
There are always good reasons, where the matter is complex and important, for not treating that type of expression of the voice of the people as the voice of God.
