How do you deal with rising homelessness?
Well ...
... if you're a total git wizard, you ignore the rapid increase in homelessness and decide to target the homeless through PSPO (Public Spaces Protection Orders). Fortunately, the Home Office has said you shouldn't do this - homeless.org.uk/connect/blogs/… ... but ...
... I live in @DamianCollins country (the 5th continent) where some take git wizardry as an art form. Looks like Folkestone & Hythe Council is having a PSPO consultation - folkestone-hythe.gov.uk/media/5432/PSP… ... sleeping bag sir, cardboard box ... let's call that a "temporary structure" ...
... oh, and no begging unless you're "Authorised to do so" ... really? Since we're thinking of spending £3.8M on a sports stadium (we already have one, so that'll be two) then I assume we're going to build plenty of shelters and facilities for the less fortunate first? Ah ...
... which brings me to social housing, another sad tale -theguardian.com/society/2018/n…

I've recently heard you can "avoid" building social houses if you contribute significant sums to a local social development activity. I do hope not, you know it'll end in "better" bowling clubs ...
Still, it's not as farcical as @sajidjavid roaming the beach and declaring a boat crisis a few weeks back.

There is so much that just seems topsy turvy with the UK today. Brexit feels like a sideshow to the real horrors occurring.
Anyway, for any of my local #folkestone followers who want to have a say on this whole PSPO consultation - the deadline is 21st January, so not long - folkestone-hythe.gov.uk/community/comm…
I personally do not agree that the behaviour of "begging" or "unauthorised camping" would have an unreasonably detrimental effect on the community’s quality of life and would therefore justify the restrictions imposed by use of PSPOs ...
... furthermore, whether intentional or not, I do view that such actions might breach Home Office guidelines of Dec 2017 that PSPOs should not be used to target people based solely on the fact that they are homeless or rough sleeping. It's wrong on so many levels in my view.
In fact, I'm so unsettled by this PSPO consultation - folkestone-hythe.gov.uk/community/comm… - and the time left, that I'm going to ask (which I rarely do) any local followers to retweet or make aware others in #folkestone and #hythe. Please consider the impact it could have on rough sleepers.
