For the last month, President Trump has been following another classic negotiating strategy which requires a LOT of setup.

You're year into these same negotiations. You're MILES apart from a deal. So you:

1. Piss off the other side - you WANT them angry.

The meeting the media was invited into embarrassed Chuck & Nancy.
Step 1 complete.

2. Next, you have your people "try to work something out" with their people knowing the other side will come in unwilling to give an inch. Your goal:

Burn time off the clock.

Anyone remember "The Four Corners Offense"? It was invented by Coach Dean Smith of UNC. It made a basketball game against a powerhouse, fast playing team as exciting as a cricket match. ZZzzzzzzzzzzz

And it BURNED the clock while pissing off the other team.

As of Day 30 under existing law, Trump has the power to LAY OFF (RIF) those hostages.

What is otherwise IMPOSSIBLE is now possible & BULLETPROOF because President Trump will be acting under authority granted to the President by CONGRESS.

Go ahead & challenge it in court, Dems. By the time it gets to SCOTUS, Trump will have a 3rd Justice on SCOTUS.
