The failed FYRE festival is one of the most blatant scams which shows the dangers of social media outreach. The Netflix documentary is as mind-blowing as it is completely unbelievable that this could even happen.

As I watched, the Star Citizen scam just kept going in and out of my frame of thought because though a different genre, it's similar to how Chris Roberts, after promising a 2yr, $7m game, scammed his way to over $200m+, and 7yrs later has yet to ship a SINGLE game - of any kind.
This is him back in 2013 where @ 23:00 he basically explained to @erikkain how some devs (like him) used to DEFRAUD publishers who funded their games.

He went on to pull the SAME stunt on backers - repeatedly. Especially in the case of Squadron 42.

After showing not one, but FOUR (2012, 2015, 2017, 2018) vertical slices of SQ42, touted to be "coming soon", in Dec we find out that, after getting $46m (under the guise of marketing for it) in bailout money, that the single-player game was still +2yrs away. To Beta.
These are slides from the 2016 presentation for SQ42. They were lies. All of it.

@rockpapershot has an article with some hilarious videos.

I like the part where this is being passed off as a Steam account (which btw has no correlation to the game's admin account which has access to the game's console) compromise.

From where I'm sitting, someone with admin access either rage quit and did this (btw this happened before with their other game, Ark) on their way out, or their game account (with admin access to the game server) got compromised. Nothing to do with Steam.

1/ A new development in the Crytek v CIG lawsuit.

Back on Dec 6th, 2018, the judge had ruled overwhelmingly in favor of CIG as to their response to the Second Amended Complaint filed by Crytek.

2/ The judge's decision was based on notes in her previous Aug 14, 2018 ruling in which she issued a 2/7 ruling in favor of Crytek's First Amended Complaint which was the crux of the entire lawsuit.

3/ In her Dec ruling which was based on a single section 2.4 dispute, she had given Crytek leave to amend their complaint and file a third amendment in support of their claims that CIG was effectively engaged in advertising their own engine in violation of the agreement.

To the notable industry types who kept silent through this farce because it wasn't your problem, you're welcome. Some of us speak up not just because it's the right thing to do, but because of repercussions directed at those who cannot.
This farce that @unity3d pulled against @Improbableio, though 100% legal and well within their rights, should make you all pay attention because as industry consolidations continues, it can and will happen it again. And yes, it has in fact happened before.

Here's the truth about the non-story story about #convingtoncatholic School boys. Absolutely nothing really noteworthy happened. Certainly nothing that the nation would have been ill served being ignorant of, if @CNN had not sensationalized it.
2. Nobody got hurt. Nobody so much as lifted a finger. People talked trash, people chanted, people jumped up and down, somebody beat a drum and sang, a lot of people got confused, and after a while the whole thing petered out into what should have been oblivion.
3. But then it was a slow news or no news day. The previous day's news (the Buzzfeed fiasco) had blown up in the faces of Fake News merchants, and realizing there was no more milk in that carton, they needed a fresh egg in their face to keep the show interesting.

1. Fun bit of drama around the dueling #FyreFestival documentaries. Fyre Fraud on Hulu points out at the end that Vice hooked up with social media marketing agency @FuckJerry to produce their own doc. This is the one coming to Netflix.
2. FuckJerry is the same social media marketing agency that Fyre Fest founder Billy MacFarland hired to run the now infamously effective and misleading Instagram/Twitter campaigns for the festival.

My company was raided. It should have been a straightforward matter. But the #MetPolice & #LBRUT forgot to seize my computer & came back to do a 2nd raid. The search warrant didn't permit a second entry, however, #LBRUT entered unlawfully
