This is a serious question about Rudy Giuliani but not limited to him:
At what point should the media conclude that someone is mentally ill and no longer interview him, even if the president sends him out to the media?
(Semi-serious follow: You know where this is going...) 1/
2/ At what point has someone lied so shamelessly, so repeatedly, that the serious media should no longer give that person airtime? Even if the president sends them out?
This is about @KellyannePolls and @SarahHuckabee but not limited to them...
3/ And here’s the kicker: what should the media do about a president who is clearly mentally ill and also is a pathological liar? This is actually a serious question and a complicated problem.
Live addresses? Tape delay and real-time fact checks for both sides from now on.
4/ For those of us who are critics of Trump, we have an understandable tendency to seize on @RudyGiuliani’s statements when they are damaging admissions. I think we need to recognize that he is not well and not credible either way. Stop parsing his words and stop covering him.
5/ A friend says that "mentally ill" is probably not the right label for Giuliani, but rather "cognitively impaired." That sounds more accurate and more appropriate. Sorry I conflated the two.
