It's a little too late to fix Venezuela with a coup or military intervention. The last moment for that was when Chavez died. There's nothing left but a wrecked country, displaced persons and crooked soldiery advised by Hezbollah, Cuba and Russia.
The problem now is to contain the explosion triggered by an illegitimate Maduro. You can't recognize him, nor can you keep him from doing something stupid.
One approach is to try and maximize the odds of Venezuela being able to heal itself by offsetting the ex Soviet goon squad while letting Venezuelans decide their fate, some kind of "partnering".
