I have thousands of followers whom I never interact with. Some like me but don't think I'm funny. Others enjoy my tweets but don't want me to know. The rest muted me because I said something I don't even believe anymore. Or maybe, just maybe, they're all waiting for...The Tweet.
It could happen tomorrow. It could happen years from now. One day I may stumble upon a joke so powerful it will sound the Great Horn of Forgotten Followers. Thousands of ancient warriors from across the globe will awaken from their slumber and come to my aid.
The Mighty Dwarves of Catholic Twitter, The Forest Elves of Pakistan, The Noble Sky People of Lookout Mountain, an army of Libertarian Ice Golems, the Fire Merchants of Chicago, and the Flying Water Mages of Women I Kinda Used To Date will descend upon my timeline in unison.
The Prophecy of the 100% faved tweet will be fulfilled and the internet shall be won. Then my Klout score will only go up by one point and I'll be sad again.

I have fled the colonies but Bernie Bros have tracked me to London and are heckling my shows where I talk for an hour about Drumpf and don’t make any jokes. Truly no level of misogyny they will not stoop to.

Just spent 10 minutes writing a whole narrative about Daniel Radcliffe taking Tom Brady’s MAGA hat to Mount Doom to destroy it and then realized Frodo was played by Elijah Wood. My brain is fried and this website is cursed.
Also I can’t rewrite it because I just got home from Seattle and my wife is asleep so I can’t ask her what happens in Harry Potter. Anyway it would have probably gotten 20k retweets so just add that to what you think of me.

something I'm trying to think through... People analogizing today to end of the tech bubble period. I think there are huge differences, but worth considering. so this is just a collection of stuff I'm pulling together, any thoughts or additional data appreciated.
The bubble was two parts: there was the internet/new economy nuttiness, and the telecom/fiber buildout. One couldn't happen without the other. But they were different. Internet stuff was equity financed, telecom was debt. Today, closest analogy I can think of is cloud buildout.
So that's ultimately where I want to end, comparing cloud to telecom buildout, but first want to think through at a higher level, what the comparisons look like.

It's been a little over a month since I got back from #LivingLaVidaLagos and even though I am still missing it like crazy (someone yell "like CRAZY!"), I feel ready to share some of my experiences; the good, the bad & the neutral.

Lagos, THANK YOU for a truly wonderful time ❤.
One of the best things that I did? I went to the opera 💃! Y'all, did you know there's opera in Lagos? And I don't mean 'good enough for Lagos' opera. I mean, proper, 'beautiful, well-trained instruments', opera! I watched #DonGiovanni at the #MusonCenter.
I also loooved Fela's Shrine. I actually went twice; on the day I arrived & again for #Felabration2018. You guys, it was so much fun! I ended up abandoning my people and going up front to dance with the King!

I'll be mostly reviewing papers from today's NBER releases, but a few from last week as well, as I didn't review any last week.
Today is going to be heavy on education-related topics. This is a sexy topic these days not least because educational institutions generate a lot of data and house economists. #NBERday
However, I should note here that economics of education is *adjacent to* some of my actual expertise, not my area of greatest mastery. Thus, while I can discuss these papers somewhat, several of them (seem to) disagree, and I can't tell you who to believe for sure. #NBERday
