Cool UX from Japan: a popular restaurant with no reservations took our number to call us when we’re ready and printed a receipt with a QR code for real time updates on our place in line
Underrated how much web and SMS / call primitives still compose well on smartphones. Everyone wants to be on home screen but nobody going to install your app for this; QR code to no-auth web app solves that problem
I suppose reading a QR code is not typically considered a web primitive but we’ve been doing it here since late 90s so.

Rates exert gravity.

If you charge more, you’ll spend your time talking to more sophisticated clients, working in better businesses, specializing in projects close to the money. These are compounding advantages.

If you charge less, similar dynamics apply.
A lot of low-sophistication freelancers get trapped in a cycle where their rates mean that they are hired by bozos, and then stiffed by bozos, because bozo. So they spent their time chasing bozo bucks, not getting better at delivery or pipeline management.
Your community becomes other people whose businesses are constantly on the knife’s edge. If you experience success or threaten to, they will (not necessarily purposefully) try to sabotage you (e.g. by talking down your rates or by introducing clients who you should not talk to).

If (greater) Tokyo were a country it would have the 10th highest GDP in the world, slightly beating Canada.
Sometimes I feel like I have a bit of a chip on my shoulder about this when in Silicon Valley because of the question "Isn't Japan sort of an economic basket case?" and, well, it's a pretty materially sized basket.
The parts of Japan that aren't in Tokyo, by comparison, amount to a United Kingdom and enough change for a Poland or so.

There is unreasonable amounts of leverage in both software and security by communicating the blessed path to do something and making it more easy and obvious to take the blessed path and harder, crufty, and scary to take the non-blessed path.
This can be as easy as forcing an engineer to type the word "unsafe" to do things that are unsafe. (And then you can audit for that, grep for it, discourage it in training, encourage people to push back in code reviews, etc.)
Corollary: DON'T MAKE THE SAFE PATH THE HARDER ONE. This includes e.g. safely_query_the_database() over query()

Because I occupy a unique space in that I have the IT infrastructure and the CM/games experience, I can tell you definitively - you can QA and stress test all you want, but NOTHING prepares you for CCU hits from actual production go-live. It's systemic because it's inevitable.
It's "baffling" only if you're not aware of the tech and practices involved, which isn't the fault of the writer. But the fact remains is that there is no simulation that can be run for your launch in the wild. All you can do is adapt and have in place the mechanisms to do so.
"But Frank," you say, "There's X service that doesn't have an issue with launching."

Those services are not persistently online games continuously and in real time sending and receiving player data, whose efficiency depends on so many factors - latency, game engine, tech.

I never did beat Donkey Kong 64 because I misplaced the cartridge for a long time.
The only bright yellow cartridge I had, you'd think it would have been hard to lose.
But it's kind of the epitome of what I really liked in the era of 3D platforming in that it really offered a sort of joyous freedom of movement. I think that's why I liked it and Mario 64 more than Ocarina of Time, even as I love Zelda more as a franchise.

The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.
